On February 1, 1871 The Beenleigh School, No 6
operating under the National System was opened with a Public Tea Meeting, 200
adults and children being present. By
the end of the month 62 children were registered, their ages ranging from 5 to 16 years.
In 2021 the school reached a massive milestone celebrating 150 years.
The
school is attractively presented - offering a welcoming environment to its
school community and visitors. Through
the “Building the Education Revolution” we now have a Hall, new Resource Centre
and a Science Centre. The school also has modern new facilities for Students
with Disabilities and for students with English as a Second Language.
Beenleigh State School, located in the South Coast Region, services the community of
Beenleigh and draws students from surrounding suburbs such as Eagleby, Mount
Warren Park and Edens Landing.
Today,
Beenleigh School, standing on a hectare site,
reflects the past and the present through its mix of traditional and open plan
classrooms.
The
school is an inner urban one, servicing a community reflecting diverse social
and ethnic backgrounds. The school
caters for a somewhat transient population, but at the same time provides for
the educational needs of a large settled core of families. The community consists of recently
established residential areas, cluster housing developments and established
homes.
